The MayPort-CG School Board on Monday approved a two-year contract with its teachers and rebuffed a third attempt by a board member to rescind the district’s mask mandate.
The base salaries for MPCG teachers will increase $1,000 each year of the two-year deal, according to Marlana Knudson, school board president.
In addition, veteran teachers will see step increases based on their years of employment and be allowed for the first time to share sick hours with their colleagues.
The contract will result in teachers receiving an average 7.2 percent increase in salaries and benefits over the life of the two-year deal, Knudson said.
“We had a very smooth negotiations process this time,” she said. “I was very pleased with both sides of the table and how we came together (to reach) an agreement.”
