The Traill County Courthouse at sunset.

A Hatton mom and business owner and a long-term care advocate living in Mayville gave impassioned pleas to the Traill County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday asking for the reintroduction of a countywide mask mandate.

County commissioners listened to the requests from Kallie Naastad, chief financial officer for Naastad Brothers in Hatton, and Chris Larson, a resident of Lutheran Memorial Home and chair of the North Dakota Reuniting Families and Residents Task Force, but remained unconvinced.

After hearing input from Naastad and Larson, commissioners voted 3-2 to reject implementing a mask mandate similar to the one Traill County had in place from November 2020 through May 4.
