The future of the planned Riverwalk Addition in Hillsboro could be decided at the Hillsboro City Commission meeting on Monday, March 1.
Backers of the residential and commercial development west of Interstate 29 provided an update and sales pitch for the project Monday night to the Hillsboro Economic Development Corp.
A majority of the 90-minute session was led by civil engineer Jon Lowry of Lowry Engineering in Fargo, who touted the economic benefits the westside development could bring to Hillsboro.
But the meeting also provided insight into a potential roadblock for the development as city officials clashed on whether the city should extend a letter of credit to cover a portion of the $3 million in infrastructure costs needed in Riverwalk.
