Mayville’s Doppler weather radar site is getting a fresh lease on life in February.
The 25-year-old structure will receive a refurbished pedestal as part of the National Weather Service’s System Life Extension Program, or SLEP.
The pedestal, which moves the 30-foot radar dish inside of its housing, is part of a series of ongoing upgrades to sites across the country.
“We’re doing the whole proactive thing,” said Mike Lukasz, electronics systems analyst with the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, N.D.
