MAYVILLE – A school mask policy approved by the MayPort-CG School Board late last fall will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
The MayPort-CG School Board on Monday rejected a school board member’s attempt – the second in as many months – to lift the district’s policy on face coverings inside the school.
Board member Jeremy Strand proposed that the board rescind its existing mask policy, which requires students and teachers to wear masks throughout the school day.
Echoing anti-mask comments he made in March, Strand pointed out that the Central Valley School District eased its mask restrictions through a recent school board vote in spite of an ongoing mask mandate approved by Traill County commissioners in November.
Strand suggested MPCG do the same and took aim at whether masks stem the spread of COVID-19.
