The Traill County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday voted to replace Bridge 92, a low-water crossing over the Elm River about 8 miles southeast of Hillsboro, in 2022.
Cory Martin, the county’s road and bridge supervisor, told the county board in August that the Texas crossing had collapsed.
Martin returned Tuesday and presented three options to county commissioners: close the structure permanently; restore the bridge to its original condition; or install a bigger, sturdier
bridge at the site.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency agreed to pay 75 percent of costs associated with replacing the bridge while state officials will cover 10 percent of the project, Martin said.
