Masks

A countywide mask mandate approved by Traill County leaders in November to slow the spread of COVID-19 will remain in effect through early May.

The Traill County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday heard impassioned pleas from a small handful of residents from the Buxton-Reynolds area who objected to the mask ordinance.

However, after a spirited discussion that included a recommendation from Traill County State’s Attorney Charlie Stock to reconsider the ordinance, commissioners voted 3-1 to maintain the status quo and revisit the mask mandate at a county board meeting May 4.

County Commissioner Tom Eblen of Hillsboro said school superintendents from Hillsboro, Central Valley, MayPort-CG and Hatton reached out to county leaders in recent weeks to voice their support for keeping the mandate.
