Hillsboro city commissioners tied up some loose ends Monday making final decisions on several issues and rethinking one past decision.
Pressed by City Commissioner Levi Reese, commissioners reconsidered their decision to limit public comments at meetings.
Reese said the restrictions enacted at the Dec. 21 meeting “were not my intended motion.”
He explained that he meant for public comment to be heard during the course of the meeting, as decisions were being made, not only at the end of the meeting.
Commissioners ultimately clarified the policy, allowing for audience members to be recognized by Commission President Terry Sando if requested and granted the opportunity to speak for up to five minutes, with more time allowed if approved by the commission as a whole.
