The Traill County Economic Development Commission has set aside $20,000 for city beautification grants to help business owners jazz up their properties in the county.
TCEDC handed out $17,000 in beautification and child care grants in 2020 and board members cited strong interest from applicants a year ago in moving ahead with a second round of grants this spring.
Board member Brian Van Horn, who also serves as Mayville State’s president, said the $17,000 given to businesses in 2020 sparked $125,000 in building improvements in Traill County last fall.
“That’s exactly what the board intended for (the grant money) to do,” Van Horn told TCEDC members during a Zoom meeting Thursday, Feb. 18. “It was great seed money.”
