The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the identity of a Lisbon, N.D., man who died in a head-on collision south of Finley on Aug. 18.

Authorities said Cody Rader, 35, was the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche that collided with a Peterbilt tractor driven by Ernest Matelski, 54, of Hillsboro, on Highway 32.

Roder’s vehicle was traveling north on the roadway when it crossed the center line and struck the semi-tractor head on in the early-morning hours Aug. 18, according to the Highway Patrol.

Rader was pronounced dead at the scene but his name was withheld pending notification of the accident to relatives.

Matelski did not sustain injuries in the crash, authorities said this week.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.

The Steele County Sheriff’s Department, Hope Ambulance and the Hope Fire Department responded to the crash.
