With a 15-point lead at halftime, No. 1-seeded Hillsboro-Central Valley went back to its running game for the final two quarters Saturday afternoon.

The Burros ran 18 plays in the third quarter – 17 on the ground –  against Turtle Mountain in a Class 2A quarterfinals matchup at Hillsboro Sports Complex.

“With what (Turtle Mountain) was doing on defense it just gave us better angles with the runs that we had,” H-CV head coach Scott Olsen said about running the football more in the second half.

“We wanted to impose our will. Kids like Landen (Reed), coming back from the shoulder injury, he did a good job on the edge blocking and our guys ran hard.”
