Rural HUNTER, N.D. – Head coach Stacy Hanson and MayPort-CG have had their share of success on the volleyball court.

Region 2 runners-up a year ago, the Patriots notched 20 wins in 2018 and brought back their core lineup this fall for another deep postseason run.

Despite that success, Hanson can’t remember beating Region 1 perennial power Northern Cass during her seven-year run on the Patriots bench.

That changed Tuesday night – and on the Jaguars’ home court.

Led by middle hitter and all-region pick Cora McClenahen, the Patriots rallied from down a set to beat the Jaguars 3-1 in the season opener for both clubs.

“We have things to work on. On both sides, your first match of the year, it isn’t always going to be pretty,” Hanson said.
