Hillsboro-Buxton-Reynolds used a first-inning home run to spur the local men’s amateur team to its second victory of the season Sunday.

The Blues got a two-run home run by Jace Stallman and a complete game gem by pitcher Cory Erickson to take a 7-2 win over Thief River Falls.

“We played hard,” manager Logan Forseth said Monday. “(And) the bats are starting to come around.

“(Stallman’s) first inning bomb was pretty important because we took the lead early and never looked back. It also proved that he could still hit a baseball a mile.”
