The MayPort-CG cross-country teams raced in Langdon, N.D., on Thursday, Oct. 8 ahead of the East Region meet Saturday in Cooperstown.

Patriots head coach Wendy Garrett-Mehus said she shuffled her teams’ schedules – skipping a meet Monday in Lisbon, N.D. – to prepare for the postseason.

Junior Tanner Lundwall led MPCG in Langdon, finishing second behind Rugby’s Austin Dibble, one of the top runners in the state.

Lundwell finished four seconds behind Dibble and clipped nine seconds from his previous race time.

“I was happy with my finish. … It gave me more confidence and showed me that I can compete with top runners in the state,” Lundwall said.

“It showed me that my hard work and training is paying off. That’s relieving (because) it means I am peaking at the right time in the season.”

Like Lundwall, MPCG seniors Shawn Klabo (19:44) and Kade Palmer (19:45) finished in the top 15 despite running in heavy winds.
