Cass-Traill 18U ran into a rare tie on the softball diamond Saturday at the Dirt N Turf tournament in New London, Minn.

It turned out to work in the Blazers’ favor, however, as the squad came away with a second-place finish.

“I would’ve liked to win the championship game,” Erickson said Monday. “But when it came down to it, it was a good step forward for us as a team.”

After falling behind 4-0 to Bemidji, Minn. in the top of the first inning, Saige Forseth tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth with a left-field double that scored Katelyn Rude.
