GRAND FORKS – Simulating the type of weather Cass-Traill 18U played in Sunday would be difficult.

Having the Blazers pitchers throw while being doused with a sprinkler may have been the only way.

“It comes down to comfort level playing in those conditions,” Cass-Traill head coach Cory Erickson said Tuesday.  “You could tell in warmups the pitchers weren’t on and weren’t comfy with the conditions.”

Through the rain and mud, the Blazers fell to Thief River Falls, Minn. 17-8 in an extra-inning game at the Grand Forks Express tournament.

Cass-Traill pitchers combined for 16 walks. Saige Forseth started the game in the circle but was replaced by Molly Knutsvig in the top of the first inning after the Prowlers scored six runs.
