FARGO — Kaden Pastian’s dominant high school career continued Saturday at the USA Track and Field Region 8 Junior Olympic Championships here.

Pastian finished first in the 15-16 age division in the discus throw with a toss of 173 feet, 10 inches.

He threw 24 feet, 2 inches farther than DeShawn Woods for the title at Fargo South High School and beat the Region 8 record by about 5 feet.

“You gotta be willing to do what it takes to be the best,” Pastian, who also took second in the shot put (49 feet, 2.5 inches), said Monday.
