BISMARCK, N.D. – Winning the turnover battle and limiting No. 1 Bismarck St. Mary’s to 14 points wasn’t enough for Hillsboro-Central Valley.

The top-ranked Saints relied on their stingy defense – which hasn’t given up a point this year – to beat the Burros 14-0 on Sept. 11.

“We didn’t break, we forced some fourth downs, we put pressure on the quarterback and we forced fumbles,” H-CV head coach Scott Olsen said.

“St. Mary’s is a good team. We knew that going in, but we have a lot of new faces and I’m proud of how the guys responded to adversity.”

New and old faces on defense didn’t falter much for the Burros as their secondary had 53 tackles and kept the Saints scoreless until midway through the third quarter.
