GRAND FORKS – For the first time in program history, the Cass-Traill Blazers 18U team defeated Grand Forks Express 18U on Tuesday at the Apollo Complex in Grand Forks.

The Blazers battled back from a four-run deficit to claim the 9-8 season-opening victory.

“In the past, honestly it was just a talent and experience disparity,” Cass-Traill head coach Cory Erickson said as to why his team has had trouble with the Express in the past.

“Now we’ve got a pretty good group of players playing for us this summer and I think that we’re as tough as some of these upper-echelon teams in the summer.”
