MOORHEAD, MINN. – Through eight games this summer, the Cass-Traill Blazers 18U team is riding one of its best streaks in recent seasons.

The local fast-pitch softball team’s five-game winning streak tied a program record since the program’s start in 2015.

Cass-Traill improved to 6-2 on the season Tuesday after picking up 10-1 and 11-7 victories over the Red River Thunder 16U squad in Moorhead, Minn.

“Right now we are hitting the ball really well,” Cass-Traill head coach Cory Erickson said Wednesday.

“Defensively, we made some mistakes around the field and that’s something we’ll need to clean up.”

In game one, Erickson’s crew fell behind 1-0 early to the Thunder before collecting 12 of their 14 total hits in the third and fourth innings.

The Blazers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning off a Molly Knutsvig RBI single and rattled off five runs in the inning to go ahead 5-1.
