MAYVILLE – Hillsboro-Reynolds Post 4 battled the best team in District 6 Tuesday at Scott Berry Field in Mayville.

The Blue Sox were coming off an 18-0 win over Hope-Finley Post 18 on Monday but didn’t see that offensive surge continue against Mayville Post 8.

The Patriots held off Hillsboro-Reynolds 6-2 in a game that featured rain throughout the early innings.

“It was definitely a night where we lacked the big hit,” Blue Sox head coach Nathan Walsh said.

“If we could have gotten a couple of runners across earlier, the game could have been even more competitive. I’m not going to panic. We will do it when it really counts.”

The Blue Sox struggled to get base runners, especially in the first, second, fifth and sixth innings when their first two at-bats resulted in outs.
