Abby Magnuson had a few extra fans in the stands for her game against Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page Monday night.

But if she was nervous about impressing, it didn’t show on the court.

Hours after signing to play basketball next year at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D., the 6-foot Hillsboro-Central Valley senior forward scored 18 points in a 44-37 win over the Spartans at the Hillsboro Events Center.

Magnuson drained three 3-pointers in front of extended family and Tigers head coach Jason Christensen, who made the trip to Hillsboro for Magnuson’s signing.

“I didn’t really feel that nervous,” Magnuson said. “Yeah, the thought was there for a bit, but a majority of the time I was focused on getting the win.”
