There will be two new faces taking over the Hillsboro-Central Valley wrestling program.

Burros athletic director Dave Nelson announced Tuesday that Andrew Grothmann and Trace Bakke have been named the program’s new co-head coaches.

The pair will replace Dustin Nagel, who stepped down in March after serving as head coach the last six years.

Last season, Grothmann served as one of Nagel’s assistants. He said he learned a lot from his former head coach.

“I think the one thing that you take away is that Coach Nagel was always good about reminding the team each day to get a little bit better,” Grothmann, 29, said Wednesday.

“It counts at the end of the year to be hitting your stride. He’s been coaching for a while and understood how to get the team to that position.”
