No knock to all-region standout Jack Camrud – who may be the state’s best rebounder and one of my favorite players – but if this year’s Hillsboro-Central Valley Burros have a face of the franchise, it’s Carson Henningsgard.

The 16- year-old basketball phenom has emerged as one of Region 2’s top scorers in his first full season as a starter for H-CV.

And the 6-foot-2 sophomore is easily the region’s best passer. So the selection of Henningsgard to the all-region team Saturday didn’t shock anyone familiar with H-CV athletics.

Burros fans watched Henningsgard come off the bench as a freshman last year to help the club win the Class B basketball title in Minot.

Everyone expected Lori and Ross Henningsgard’s youngest child – Carson has three older sisters and a brother who all made all-state teams – to be a chip off the old block.

He’s certainly been that this season – and probably more.

Henningsgard came into Thursday’s state B averaging 19.7 points and eight assists a game for the Burros.

He’s a kid fans don’t mind cheering for. But how much do fans really know about Carson?

That’s why I’m here.

I sat down with Carson at Central Valley School on Sunday, 24 hours after his team claimed the Region 2 title trophy with a 49-37 win over the Grafton Spoilers on Saturday.

Here are 10 questions with Carson Henningsgard. And, yes, I asked about his hair.
