MAYVILLE – An athletic trainer on the sidelines at Jerome Berg Field did something Griggs County’s defense couldn’t do Aug. 23 – get a good look at Sammy Satrom.

Satrom, a MayPort-CG senior, ran for 225 yards and scored four times to lead the Patriots over the Titans 50-14 in the season debut for both teams.

Satrom exited last Friday’s blowout early in the third quarter with a stinger in his left shoulder but the Patriots had their Region 1 win locked up by halftime.

Third-year head coach Adam Sola said Satrom’s injury wasn’t serious and that coaches sent the speedy tailback to see a trainer on the sidelines as a precaution.

“He’ll be OK. He took a hit and had a little bit of a stinger but he’ll be fine,” Sola said.
