HOPE, N.D. – Kade Susie picked up a win on the mound and pizza at the plate in MayPort-CG’s 8-4 win over Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page on Tuesday.

The Patriots pitcher and third baseman bet MPCG head coach Taylor Kunkel before the season began that he could leg out a triple this summer.

Susie won the bet – and a free meal for his team at Mayville’s Pizza Shop – after connecting on an RBI triple against the Horned Frogs.

The friendly wager capped a relatively easy win for the Patriots, who held a 7-1 edge in Tuesday’s game prior to a late rally by Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page.

“I’ll take any win I can get but things got a little sloppy at the end,” Kunkel said.

The Patriots opened the game with runners at first and third but the Horned Frogs and pitcher Brady Richmond threw out MPCG’s Sawyer Satrom at second.
