The District 6 independent league baseball tournament kicks off at 10 a.m. Monday at Frost Field in Hope, N.D.

The Hillsboro-Central Valley Blue Sox enter the tourney as the No. 4 seed and face No. 5 Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page in the 12:30 p.m. matchup.

Blue Sox head coach Nathan said he wants his club to enter the four-day tournament with a better mindset after dropping a pair of games to Hatton-Northwood on Wednesday.

“I want them to be mentally tough,” Walsh said.

“I want them to be able to understand that they’re not going to get a hit every time so that it doesn’t drain them both mentally and physically.

“If we can change our mindset I think we can get back to double-digit hitting (in the tournament).”

The Blue Sox beat the Horned Frogs 14-4 on June 18 and 6-4 on July 9.

The No. 3-seeded MayPort-CG Patriots open the tournament against the No. 6-seeded Oak Grove Jacks at 10 a.m. Monday.

Led by pitcher Sawyer Satrom’s 13 strikeouts, the Patriots beat the Jacks 8-2 on Wednesday night in Fargo, setting the stage for Monday’s rematch. MPCG beat Oak Grove 11-1 on June 30.
