Nicole Hurt’s high school softball career came to a fitting close Tuesday evening in Bismarck, N.D.

The Hillsboro-Central Valley first-baseman had an unassisted double play and recorded the game-clinching putout as part of an 11-6 East All-Stars win in the final game of the Scheels North Dakota Softball All-Star Series.

One of 28 North Dakota graduates invited to the third-annual event, Hurt finished with one hit in the three-game series, which saw the West All-Stars win by scores of 7-5 and 10-8 Monday in Fargo.

Hurt’s East All-Stars team was coached by West Fargo Sheyenne head coach Mark Woodbury and Thompson head coach Matt Chandler.

Fellow Class B East Region invitees included Central Cass infielders Lexi Buhr and Peyton Richter, Thompson outfielder Carrie Nistler and Kindred-Richland third baseman Amanda Roesler.

Hurt plans to attend Valley City State University next year to major in art education.
