VALLEY CITY, N.D. – MayPort-CG cross-country head coach Wendy Garrett-Mehus wasn’t thrilled with course conditions at the Hi-Liner Invitational on Friday, Aug. 30.

The Patriots earned a third-place finish with 72 points but their top runner, junior Shawn Klabo, rolled his ankle and couldn’t finish the race.

“Our boys did fairly well,” Garrett-Mehus said Tuesday.

“But we probably won’t go back to that course.

“We were fine on the golf course but they sent you out into the wilderness … and it was full of potholes and very uneven ground.”

Sophomore Tanner Lundwall placed sixth out of 46 runners (19:13) and junior Kade Palmer finished 19th in 21:11.

Freshman Oliver Marquardt took 25th with a time of 21:25 while sophomores Carter Garrett (22:53) and Lucas Peterson (23:10) finished 32nd and 33rd, respectively.
