This detached retina thing has set me back; how much? You be the judge.

I’ve aged, will be your first observation.

“But we like the cologne you’re using now,” will likely be your second take.

After that, it’ll be: “Same old same old.”

Awww, come on.

“What? So, your eye is bloodshot. Big deal. Your right pupil appears dilated, so what? So you’re stumbling around, bumping into and dropping things and can’t see to read your computer screen? You’ve always appeared a little lost. Who do you think you’re fooling? You are the master of distraction.”

Here’s the deal: I’m compromised greatly by my impaired vision. The surgery to correct my detached retina was just over eight weeks ago; the eye is still healing.

I’m told it could be another five weeks.

In the meantime, simple ordinary, everyday tasks like trimming my mustache and cutting my fingernails are beyond challenging. Putting toothpaste on a toothbrush is no easy task. I’m squeezing more toothpaste into the sink than a 4-year-old.
