Adam Sola’s teaching moments don’t stop when the final horn sounds. And they aren’t always limited to the players on his team.

On rare occasion, the MPCG head coach’s lessons extend to the opposing sideline.

I met Sola after MPCG’s 50-14 win over Griggs County Central in the Pats’ home opener.

Sola was cordial after his team dismantled the Cougars on Aug. 23.

I explained that the Banner had expanded its coverage and would be following the Patriots this fall, which he seemed thrilled about.

“We play in Wyndmere (N.D.) next week, so I’ll see you in a couple weeks at our next home game,” Sola said as we wrapped up our interview.

I smirked a little. No, coach. We’re covering the Patriots. If you’re going to Saskatoon, I’m going to Saskatoon. And we did.

Well, not to Saskatoon. But we drove to all nine MPCG home and road games this year.
