Dear Editor,

The Hillsboro Recreation District board is working to keep our programs up and running along with keeping the district sustainable for many years to come.

In 2019 we lost $4,600. While this is not a huge hit, it brought our savings down and we will not be sustainable if we keep doing this.

This year we are looking at an $8,000 loss. The 11 employees plus our rec director cost just shy of $17,000.

This is without giving any sort of raise to anyone. This, along with lower numbers in higher-cost programs, causes a unbalanced budget.

For example, last year our American Legion baseball program cost $7,500 and we took in $2,090 in player fees.

This is the same for many different programs.

If the mill levy vote in June passes this will help us out, but we will not start receiving funds until 2022.

We are asking local businesses and individuals to help the youth of our community by becoming donors and sponsoring advertising on our team uniforms.

Do not feel obligated in any way, and we would like to thank those sponsors that have donated before.

Anything that will help keep the programs going would be appreciated.

If you would like to donate you can do so online at http://bit.ly/HillsRec or mail to HRD, P.O. Box 400, Hillsboro, ND 58045.

Thank you again for the support for the Hillsboro Recreation District.
