Mary Koering, 81, Sioux Falls, S.D. formerly Fargo, N.D. passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at her home.

Mary was born June 19, 1937 in Hillsboro, N.D. to Walter and Marion (Baglien) Koering. 

She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1955 and was confirmed in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro. 

She married Richard Elmer Larsen in August 1956. They made their home in Fargo, finally settling in their beautiful home designed by Mary on Eighth Street North.

Her passion for interior design bloomed while she was employed at Coleman’s Furniture Store. 

She continued to work at several downtown businesses where she worked in the office helping with accounting. Mary went to Moorhead Technical College, graduated in 1992, with an associate’s degree in administrative secretary, with honors. 

Mary was offered a job in Sioux Falls at Orion Industries. Mary worked for Orion for over 25 years, until her passing.

Mary loved her family dearly, one of her favorite things to do was to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren play and open Christmas presents. Family was the most important thing in her life. 

Mary was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary Post 628. She had a love for animals and enjoyed her time gardening. Mary also loved to sing and played the piano and organ.

 She is survived by her children; Denise Muscha, Amenia, N.D., Valerie Larsen, Fargo, Dale (Liz) Larsen, Casselton, N.D., siblings; Kay (Norval) Rokke, Moorhead, Minn., Jerry (Cathy) Koering, St. Paul, Minn., Walter “Steve” (Connie) Koering, Sedalia, Mo., 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-laws, Cary Muscha and John Geiser.

A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 6 p.m. 

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo with visitation starting at 9 a.m.
