Entered life on Sept. 6, 1945 in Fargo, N.D. and entered eternal life on March 5, 2020, with his loving wife Karla and friend Dean by his bedside. 

Preceded in death by parents Karl and Ida Diehl of Hillsboro, N.D. Survived by wife of 26 years, Karla, and sister Kaye Tollerud of Layton, Utah.  

Known as Charlie in North Dakota and Chuck in Minnesota, this man led a very adventurous life. 

He was very proud of his service to his country with the North Dakota National Guard. 

He graduated from the University of North Dakota making life-long friends at the Sigma Chi fraternity. 

In spite of being dyslexic he  started a very successful marketing firm, Northstar Technology Sales in 1992. 

Chuck was always about helping his customers find market solutions for their technology and products, including semi-conductors, diodes, capacitors, etc. 

Chuck  loved skiing and flying, becoming an instrument rated pilot. 

His love of hunting and shooting was a lifelong pursuit taking him to many places and included service on the Board of the Safari Club International MN.  

Chuck was an accomplished marksman, competing nationally in long range, 1,000-Yard rifle shooting, realizing Master Class status in his ago group.  He competed at elite status many times in Camp Perry, Ohio.

Chuck and Karla were world travelers, enjoying many safaris in Africa and visiting Great Britain, Scotland, France, Slovenia, Croatia, Ireland and many more countries.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the caregivers…angels…at Little Hospice of Edina. They could not have taken better care of Chuck. 

The family is planning a celebration of Chuck’s life on March 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy, 5000 West 50th St & Hwy 100, Edina. Please join us with your stories, as I know there are many.  

Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice in Chuck’s name.
