Dean W. Tronson, 82, of Buxton, N.D., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, N.D.

Dean was born Nov. 10, 1937 in Grand Forks, the son of William and Glenna (Lilleberg) Tronson. He was confirmed in his faith at Saint Petri Lutheran Church in Nielsville, Minn. 

Dean attended eight years of country school in Ervin Township and completed one year of education at Hillsboro High School.

The following year he joined his father with the daily operations on the family farm. Dean married Annette N. Dronen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sharon, N.D. on Aug. 31, 1963.

Dean was a fourth-generation potato farmer operating the family farm alongside his dad William. His son Darren joined the family farm operation in 1984. Dean began potato farming at the age of 15 and grew potatoes for the 68 years. He was a member of Highland Lutheran Church, Cummings, N.D.

Dean was a compassionate man whose greatest joy in Life was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to support them in all their activities.

Loving family members of Dean include his beloved wife of almost 57 years, Annette; children: Darren (Lisa) Tronson, Buxton; grandchildren: Bethany (Jerome) Rarick, Climax, Minn., Tiffany (Robert) Samuelson, Crookston, Minn., Megan (Tom) Gerstenberg, Buxton, Shana Tronson, Grand Forks, Gunner Tronson, Buxton; eight great grandchildren; brother Forrest (Paula) Tronson, Hillsboro, N.D.;  brother and sisters in law, Jerry Skalicky, Narleen (Bill) Engell and many nieces and nephews.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 at Highland Lutheran Church, Cummings.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Highland Lutheran Church general fund.
