Kathryn Renae Hettervig was taken to her heavenly home on May 8th, 2020 while surrounded by the love of her family at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

She leaves behind a legacy of love.

Kathryn was born on November 6th, 1945 in Moorhead, MN to Orville and Muriel (Holm) Meland. She was the second of four children.

Kathryn had a very adventurous childhood living in Shelly, MN and going to elementary school there. Her family later moved to East Grand Forks, MN, where she continued her education.

Kathryn met Chris Hettervig Jr. at a teen dance at the LRC in Halstad, MN and they were married September 1st, 1961 at Halstad Lutheran Church and made their home on the family farm near Halstad. They were blessed with three children.

Kathryn was a member of the Halstad Lutheran Church.  She really enjoyed being a part of the Red River Valley Homemakers and made lifelong friendships there.

She was involved in the Halstad School. She was a “den mother” to Cub Scouts Pack 653 and also was a Campfire Girl leader.

Kathryn had a zest for life and a creative mind. She spent much of her time crafting and enjoyed giving her creations to others.

She had a soft spot for animals and adopted several over her lifetime.

She also was a “devoted” Elvis fan and managed to make it to Graceland.
