Dianne Marie Schlichtmann, Hillsboro, N.D. passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 in her home.

She was born on March 16, 1951 to Jerome and MaryEllen (Stroeing) Rosen in St. Cloud, Minn. Dianne grew up on a dairy farm in Freeport, Minn. She attended school in Albany, Minn. and graduated from Melrose High School in 1969.

Dianne worked at the Albany Hospital until November of 1970 when she married Ralph Mayers in Freeport. Three children were born from this union.

In 1975, the couple settled in North Dakota. Ralph passed away in 1978. Dianne was blessed with her fourth child in 1980. She made her home and raised her children in Richland County.

After her kids were grown, Dianne worked at NDSU in food services where she greatly enjoyed her coworkers and interacting with the students.

On April 12, 2008, she was united in marriage to Richard Schlichtmann at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, ND. They made their home on the farm. She truly loved farm work, especially driving the combine.

They retired their tractors in 2017 and bought a camper. Dianne loved travelling to the Minnesota lakes area to fish and visit her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed trips to Medora and Crosby, N.D.

She enjoyed playing accordion and loved performing for anyone who would listen. Quilting, gardening and mowing the lawn were some of her favorite hobbies.

One of Dianne’s passions was celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas. Her displays were well-known throughout the area.

Dianne had a big heart and she would lend a hand to anyone in need whether they asked for it or not.

Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.

“Grandma wasn’t old and rusty, but wise, fun and goofy.”

She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Darren (Beth) Mayers, Janeen (Chad) Slegh, Craig (Sarah) Mayers, and Douglas (fiancée Tessa) Blumer; siblings, Warren (Janet) Rosen, Marilyn (Darell) Wall, Eileen Rosen, Richard (MaryJane) Rosen; sister-in-law Mary Jo (Jim) Dodd; grandchildren, Isaac, Carter, Anna, Payden, Ryker, Lola, Bria, Ian, Abby, Hannah, Nora, and “Baby A” & “Baby B” on the way; a great-granddaughter, Paisley; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
