A majority of residents at a public forum Tuesday in Hillsboro indicated they’d prefer the city build an indoor pool rather than repair the aging municipal pool in Woodland Park.

City Commission President Terry Sando told a crowd of 30 people inside Hillsboro’s community center that the city’s existing 63-year-old pool needs $200,000 in repairs.

Cracks in the lining of the pool recently allowed 18 inches of water to leak into the ground over the course of one weekend, city officials said.

“Two-hundred thousand would make a pretty good down payment on a potential indoor pool,” Sando said. “That’s something we would like to explore and get feedback on.”
