The District 20 Republican Party has endorsed a trio of farmers to appear on ballots in the primary and general elections for the state House and Senate.

District 20 Republicans on Sunday endorsed Mike Beltz of Hillsboro and Jared Hagert of Emerado, N.D., for the House and incumbent state Sen. Randy Lemm (R-Hillsboro) for the Senate.

In choosing Beltz and Hagert, the party bypassed nominating incumbent state Rep. Aaron McWilliams (R-Hillsboro) for a second term.

McWilliams, 36, said Tuesday that he was blindsided by the move but he vowed to run in the June 9 primary and expressed confidence he’ll advance to this fall’s general election.
