A decision by Dakota Natural Gas on whether to build a $10 million to $15 million natural gas pipeline serving Hillsboro and Mayville could be announced soon.

Greg Palmer, the gas distributor’s chief executive officer, said Monday that the company remains on track to proceed with the pipeline if more prospective clients sign on as natural gas customers.

“The process has gone on longer than I hoped but we are still on track if we can get the right commitments,” he said.

Palmer said the company’s board of directors will meet Feb. 19 to discuss the pipeline, which would enter Traill County from Minnesota.
