A more than century-old ban on Sunday morning retail sales in North Dakota has ended, but a majority of Hillsboro merchants won’t be taking advantage of the change.

Hillsboro Drug owner Randy Habeck and Scott Olsen of Olsen’s Hardware said Wednesday they have no plans to open Sunday mornings after the state’s so-called blue laws ended Thursday.

Employees at Hillsboro Lumber and NAPA Auto Parts in Hillsboro said their downtown locations also won’t be adjusting their hours.

The lone local retailer to capitalize on the decision by lawmakers earlier this year to abolish the state’s restrictions on Sunday morning shopping appears to be Dollar General.
