The State Historical Society of North Dakota has awarded $50,000 to Traill County to help pay for repairs to the leaking dome atop the Traill County Courthouse in Hillsboro.

The Traill County Board of Commissioners had applied for the grant in November at the urging of Buxton architect Bobbi Hepper Olson, who offered to submit the Cultural Heritage Grant application on behalf of the county at no cost.

“It’s great news. Bobbi submitted the paperwork for us, which was nice of her,” said Traill County Board Chair Tom Eblen of Hillsboro.

“The fact that we received the grant is great. It’s an expensive project and those funds will help us a lot.”
