MAYVILLE – Owners Britni Coran and Brady Johnson tossed open the doors to B&B Family Restaurant Tuesday morning in Mayville.

Although the restaurant’s debut marks a first for Johnson, Coran isn’t a stranger to the food service industry.

In fact, she’s more than a little familiar with the ins and outs of B&B’s new location at 226 9th Ave. S.E. along Highway 200.

The Washington native managed the Whistle Stop Restaurant for her father at the same location a few years back prior to its one-year stint as the Dakota Boys Restaurant.

While other restaurants remain shuttered or closed during the coronavirus pandemic, Coran and Johnson don’t seem fazed by making their diner debut this week.

“There’s a little bit of nervousness right now but at the same time it’s exciting,” Coran said Monday. “The feedback we’re hearing is that people are excited.

“There’s a need for this type of restaurant in town, especially right now.”
