Hillsboro city leaders on Monday approved a Fargo housing developer’s request to extend city services to the company’s planned 32-unit rental housing project in Hillsboro.

City commissioners voted to spend an estimated $150,000 to connect water and sewer lines to Jordahl Custom Homes’ development west of Second Street Northwest and north of Kiwanis Senior Housing.

However, Hillsboro City Commission President Terry Sando bristled at a verbal request from a Jordahl rep asking for tax incentives for the project, which has seen numerous delays since being announced in February 2018.

“I am not willing to sign off on tax breaks” for the project, Sando told Hillsboro banker Melissa Beach, who has been hired as a consultant by Jordahl Custom Homes.
