Rain impacted this year’s Hillsboro Days Tractor and Truck Pull, but not the way organizer Rob Bell envisioned.

With thunderstorms forecast last Saturday, Bell pushed the 32nd annual Hillsboro event back a day to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The move was welcomed by a record number of pullers, one who came all the way from Ashland, Wis. to participate.

“I have cousins and an uncle that live in this area, so I just came to visit and pull,” said Randy Tody, who won the 9,000-pound Hot Stock class Sunday.

“I just started last July, but this year I’d like to get about five events in,” he added. “This is my first time pulling in Hillsboro.”

The local tractor pull saw 144 entries Sunday, far more than a year ago when attendance saw a slight dip due to conflicting events.

With nearly double the entries from last summer, Bell said a number of factors came together to make Sunday’s pull a success.
