The municipal pool in Hillsboro’s Woodland Park has been losing 9,818 gallons of water a day this summer, city officials announced Wednesday.

A portion of the water loss could be due to splashing and evaporation, Hillsboro City Commission President Terry Sando told residents at a downtown public forum.

The bulk of the water loss appears to be seeping out through cracks in the pool’s liner and piping.

“Even if we’re only losing half that, can you imagine what we are paying for all that water?” Sando asked residents gathered inside the Hillsboro community center.
