The Hillsboro City Commission on Monday continued talks centered on establishing a community orchard in the Riverbend Addition.

City Commissioner Levi Reese presented the commission with a map showing a proposed layout for the city-owned orchard along Fourth Avenue and Seventh Street Northeast.

The area would be home to fruits such as apples, apricots, plums and pears as well as a variety of berries including raspberries, gooseberries and juneberries.

Charles Elhard of Fargo, a plant protection officer with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, created a hand-drawn map of the orchard that was reviewed by city leaders Monday.
