Norman County West administrators have begun preliminary discussions with neighboring district Ada-Borup (Minn.) on consolidation.

Norman County West Superintendent Jim Hess said while no major progress has been made on the issue, he expects the school board will be asked to approve a resolution establishing intent to consolidate at its Nov. 17 meeting.

“We have a committee of board members and superintendents from the two districts,” Hess said Tuesday.

“Our main consideration is the kids and what’s the best way to take care of them and ensure they get a great education and opportunities.”

The two schools currently have a tuition agreement in place for more than 100 Norman County West students after the district closed its high school in 2018.
