At a brief meeting Monday, Hillsboro city commissioners upped their financial commitment to a new public pool and decided to seek grant funding for an electric vehicle charging station.

Bobbi Hepper Olson, a Buxton-based architect, requested an additional $3,500 to pay for input from experts as she works to develop a master plan for development of a new municipal swimming pool.

In August, commissioners authorized $6,000 for Olson’s services.

At Monday’s meeting, she said the additional funds were needed to gather information from an aquatics expert to help “establish the costs of long-term operation and maintenance” as well as comparing equipment costs for indoor and outdoor pools.
