After passing on sponsoring any events during Hillsboro Days in June, the Hillsboro Business Association may hold a family-friendly get-together Aug. 26.

Meeting in person for the first time since March, HBA members began discussions Wednesday on sponsoring a variety of evening activities in Woodland Park to coincide with the first day of school in Hillsboro.

Paul Geray of Paul’s Hometown Repair proposed the idea after HBA was forced to scrap its traditional support of Hillsboro Days in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Geray suggested a human pull – which debuted during the 2019 Hillsboro Days celebration – and events such as egg and water balloon tosses for kids and a car show could be held in the park while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Food trucks could be invited as well, he said.
